Spectators of the Fritz Henkel Stiftung-Rennen bore witness to a fantastic success for our stud farm about an hour before the 160th running of the German Oaks today. DESTINO, Derby runner-up and full brother to Horse Of The Year 2017 DSCHINGIS SECRET, delivered an impressive win while the ever consistent fighter DEVASTAR finished with a great third place in the €55,000 G3 challenge.
The elite field of seven starters took on the 2400 meters under the sunny skies of Düsseldorf Grafenberg with Martin Seidl looking for a ground saving trip along the inner rails with the SOLDIER HOLLOW-son and Adrie de Vries guiding DEVASTAR to the lead in the back stretch. From there, the Areion-colt led the pack around the final turn into the stretch by good and stead pace. Seidl immediately took Destino to an outer lane where the colt took off like a trooper and despite some insecurities and lane changes secured a win by half a length while Devastar crossed the wire a length behind the second-placed Salve del Rio and completed a thrilling result for our stud. |
